Whenever I talk about what type of footwear is appropriate for reducing the risk of falling in older adults the most popular question from most people is "What should I look for in footwear?"
This is a loaded question due to the limited research in this area. Even so, many public documents provide some general guidelines for choosing footwear to reduce your risk of falls.
Some of the ones that I like have their links posted below...

However, they are very general and do not have any specifics so that you can choose an appropriate shoe for balance and reducing your risk of falls.
Next Post: I will attempt to provide you with some more detailed information, based on research, about footwear selection.
